The Yorkshire coast has some lovely places, from the Scarborough, which is said to be the first seaside place for holiday makers in the UK, to the old world of Whitby, and more places too. Just take a trip to Staithes, just a few miles north of Whitby and even Robin Hoods bay, these places are great, full of history, and you can certainly see how it was in the old days.

I've decided to post a few of my favourite shots from Whitby, a place I try to visit at least once a year. I used to hire a cottage which dated back to the 17th century (and was haunted), but sadly the guy who I hired it from has now sold the cottage, so I need to find another dog friendly one, at a good price.

The shots in this post are from various visits to Whitby, I have included some drone shots as well, as it's great to get a different perspective on the town.

Whitby Harbour Mouth, the wind really got up as well as seagulls trying to attack the drone, this was a quick shot and scarper, so didn't get the settings adjusted correctly for the shot, but at the end of the day, I still like it.

Whitby Abbey, little bit of a HDR shot, but love the atmosphere to this one.

This shot and the similar one above was taken on a flying visit to Whitby, I'd just been to meet up with an old friend at Saltburn, I thought I'd drive down to Whitby for some tea (fish and chips obviously lol), and take a few shots. However, it kept raining and the rain was getting worse, so I just about gave it up as a bad job, was walking back to the car, and it cleared, giving the most beautiful light for photography, and what I like about this shot, is you ca still see the rain out to sea.
