We decided to go and breathe in some salty sea air as it's good for the lungs.
Such a contrast from the pure mountain air, as the ocean air smells wild and free.
So, take your mind and come along with us on a slow 2-kilometer walk. Slow as my knee will not allow me to rush around like in my younger years, and in those days, I swam more in the sea and did not take long walks. Now things are changed and I walk more than I swim, strange what old age can do. It turns one's life around :)
The reason why I like to get gulls in flight is that it gives me such a great feeling of freedom and I have a few in here for you to have a look at, apart from also some other views. There is a lot of bird life on the beaches of the ocean, but the gulls rule the show every day. A pity that no deep-sea fishermen returned with their boat, as then there will be more than a hundred of these gulls waiting for them to clean the fish and to discard the fish offal into the water.
This is the historic jetty that was in use maybe a hundred years ago. I had its history somewhere about those times, but I forget where I stashed it. The jetty is now being handed back to the ocean, and it is slowly falling apart.
Did I tell you that these flying birds remind me about freedom?
Further along I took this shot of the backend of the famous Table Mountain.
Now for some live action as I saw that guy standing on the water in the distance. At least it looked like it. Lol.
Yep! It was a paddle surfer. I think that's what they call it.
You can see the board is anchored to the guy's ankle in case of a wave flipping him over, as then he can hang and get back on the board.
But I don't think this guy will flip, as he looks very professional and steady on that board.
So yeah, I hope that you have relaxed on the walk and there was a lot more to see but I will do some more posts of the views in the future. We don't often come down to the sea anymore as our work is mainly inland and it is always a special treat to take a walk here. Of course, during peak holidays, we avoid the area completely as that long beach can become very crowded by visiting holiday makers.
But in the off season it is a sure pleasure to visit as there are wide open spaces to take a seat in. Mind you, that is the Atlantic Ocean, and it is famous for its coldness of the water. So, all the surfers and bathers use bodysuits when they enter the water. Just the human psyche, as humans know by instinct how to cope with nature's extremities, they love that water in the summer, but in the winter it's another story.
Such is life.
