Lung diseases are among the most common diseases in the world. Ten million people suffer from lung diseases in the U.S Smoking, infections and genetics are responsible for most lung diseases.
1- Household Items: Various materials found in some homes, such as asbestos, bird proteins, mold and radon, can cause lung damage.
2- Every chemotherapeutic agent can damage the lungs. Radiation therapy of the chest cavity normally causes pulmonary toxicity. Cancers that can be treated by radiation in the thoracic cavity include breast cancer, lung cancer and Hodgkin's lymphoma. Symptoms may not occur until 2-3 months after radiotherapy.
3- Pulmonary Diseases: The lungs' blood vessels are affected by either a blood clot, inflammation of the blood vessels, or scarring of the blood vessels. The ability of the lungs to absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide is impaired. Pulmonary disease sometimes causes heart problems.
4- Air bubbles are air-filled small bubbles that form in the outer lung wall. Sometimes these bubbles break and release air into the pleural space causing the lungs to collapse. This can be the result of changes in air pressure. Air bubbles are usually not indicative of disease or other lung disease.
