All these images of Steampunks were captured during the Lincoln Assylum event last year. As I have previously mentioned, this years event which was due to take place on the August Bank Holiday has been cancelled due to Covid19
Here is a chance to reminisce, and to look back on those Splendid outfits...
If you were to ask 100 steampunks, you would probably end up with 105 different answers. It is a culture (style? movement?) that seems to defy categorisation and as such there seems to be almost limitless interpretations.
These four ladies all travelled together from Liechtenstein, and although there was a slight language barrier, they were fully involved in the event, and shows just global and far reaching this event is. There were people from Germany and Netherlands and a surprising amount had travelled from New Zealand!
The clothes can range from adapting more traditional and dignified Victorian clothing...
...to creating almost fantastical costumes, and the some of the attention to detail involved int the outfits are breathtaking
