New blog entry. New episode of the "Discovering Abilities" series. Here comes the 31st analysis and we go with an epic card from the water deck to analyse this week's ability. It's Retaliate's turn with Naga Warrior. New weekly review. Let's get started.

The card that brings this week's skill takes me back to my university days. A time when I played a lot, maybe too much, of video games. One of the games I played the most was Heroes of Might & Magic III, and in that game, one of the most powerful creatures was the Nagas. Naga Warrior will be in charge of bringing the Retaliate ability to my battle and I'm going to analyse this ability. An epic card from the water deck with melee attack and a good level of vitality to put her in the tank position and take advantage of her ability.

La carta que aporta la habilidad de esta semana me lleva a mis tiempos de universidad. Una época en la que jugaba mucho, quizá demasiado, a los videojuegos. Uno de los que más jugué fue el Heroes of Might & Magic III y, en aquel juego, una de las criaturas más poderosas era, precisamente, las Nagas. Naga Warrior será la encargada de aportar la habilidad Retaliate a mi batalla y sobre la que voy a analizar esta habilidad. Una carta épica del mazo de agua con ataque cuerpo a cuerpo y un buen nivel de vitalidad para colocarla en la posición de tanque y aprovechar su habilidad.

No less than 22 cards have this ability at some level of evolution. Serpent of the Flame, Stonesplitter Orc, War Chang, and Naga Warrior are the only ones with Retaliate at starting level. The gameplay of this ability is to have a 50% chance to attack back when a card with Retaliate is hit by a melee attack. Considering that Naga Warrior at level 3 has three hit points, having this ability activated can cause significant damage to an opponent who dares to damage Naga Warrior.

Nada menos que 22 cartas tienes esta habilidad en algún nivel de evolución. Serpent of the Flame, Stonesplitter Orc, War Chang y Naga Warrior son las únicas que tienen Retaliate en el nivel inicial. La jugabilidad de esta habilidad es la de tener un 50% de probabilidad de devolver el ataque cuando una carta con retaliate es golpeada por un ataque cuerpo a cuerpo. Teniendo en cuenta que Naga Warrior a nivel 3 tiene tres puntos de ataque, que se active esta habilidad puede causar un importante destrozo en el rival que ose dañar a Naga Warrior.

The more melee cards the opponent has, the more interesting this ability will be. As the description indicates, the chance of returning the attack is 50% and ONLY when taking damage from a melee attack. It does not affect magic attack or ranged attack. Clearly, if one of the battle conditions is only melee attack cards, Retaliate becomes an almost essential ability in our line-up.

Cuantas más cartas con ataque cuerpo a cuerpo tenga el rival más interesante será esta habilidad. Y es que como su descripción indica, la posibilidad de devolver el ataque es del 50% y SOLO cuando recibe daño de un ataque cuerpo a cuerpo. No afecta al ataque mágico ni al ataque a distancia. Evidentemente, si una de las condiciones de batalla es la de solo cartas con ataque cuerpo a cuerpo Retaliate se convierte en una habilidad casi imprescindible en nuestra alineación.

@Fyllo will be the opponent in the battle of example. Daria Dragonscale will be the summoner leading a very dangerous line-up. Furious Chicken as the fake tank followed by Uriel the Purifier, Stitch Leech, Whelp Herder and Celestial Harpy in the last position. For my part, a water deck with Naga Warrior as the tank followed by Djinn Oshannus and Deeplurker with a lot of attacking power, relying on Retaliate to activate and cause enough damage to settle the battle.

@Fyllo será el rival en la batalla de ejemplo. Daria Dragonscale será el invocador al frente de una alineación muy peligrosa. Furious Chicken como falso tanque seguido de Uriel the Purifier, Stitch Leech, Whelp Herder y Celestial Harpy en la última posición. Por mi parte un mazo de agua con Naga Warrior como tanque acompañada de Djinn Oshannus y Deeplurker. Mucho poder de ataque confiando en que Retaliate se active y cause daño suficiente para solventar la batalla.

The Retaliate ability became active and was the decisive event that turned a narrow defeat into a narrow victory. Uriel's presence was a difficult obstacle to overcome as the damage done by Retaliate the only time it was activated was decisive. A good example of how a small detail with a well-used ability could have changed the course of the fight.

La habilidad Retaliate llegó a activarse y fue el hecho determinante que cambió una ajustada derrota por una ajustada victoria. La presencia de Uriel fue un escollo difícil de solventar a que el daño realizado por Retaliate la única vez que se activó fue determinante. To be honest, neither Retaliate nor Naga Warrior is an ability or card that I use regularly in my strategies. In fact, I had to rent Naga Warrior for this week's analysis. An analysis that, once again, has given me a new perspective on a card and ability that I didn't master. Believe me when I tell you that fulfilling this ritual every week makes me a better player and encourages me to try new strategies for my daily fights. After this review, Retaliate gets a score of 7 out of 10.

Para seros sincero, ni Retaliate ni Naga Warrior es una habilidad o carta que utilice de manera habitual en mis estrategias. De hecho he tenido que alquilar a Naga Warrior para realizar el análisis de esta semana. Un análisis que, una vez más, me ha descubierto una nueva perspectiva con una carta y habilidad que no dominaba. Crredme cuando os digo que cumplir con este ritual cada semana me hace mejor jugador y me anima a probar nuevas estrategias para mis combates de cada día. Tras este análisis Retaliate se lleva una nota de 7 sobre 10.
