We can say well…. Because in actuality something bigger than this was the expectations. So what went wrong? Crypto! Crypto!! Crypto!!!, Airdrop! Airdrop!! Airdrops!!! Memecoins, tokens trading, NFTs and others that joined to make the entire crypto space look more like a circus.
No matter how tingling a proposal is, without true value (utility) it is awaiting its pending doom. Note, I said ‘true value’, this is not just about a few hands adopting, can it influence a larger market? If the answer here is a NO, then there is a big challenge.
We have seen it already, tokens are dying off in the cryptoverse industry. The entire ecosystem is becoming boring, enthusiast are just here on crossed fingers; you know when +10x expectations goes the vice.
There has been so much delay and unrealistic promises within this ecosystem and it has made its competitors to catch. I mean web2 of course, are we not seeing how they replicate what works here (web3) in a larger industry (web2)?
This is what I want to look at and say well, web3 has played its parts. Yes, web2 are now ready to pay curators and content creators. Where did they copy that? Web3 of course and web3 users are heading back to the old industry that now has a spark of improvement.
You can't blame anyone anyway or not too much; people want to build where things are working and most importantly touch their niche markets. The entire crypto English is boring to an individual who just wants to get a quick service online.
Web2 are now taking content creators more serious. Anyway, it is also something worth debating; is the current payments worth the effort?. It is something to discuss on another article and also a loophole for web3 to leverage if they will ever outpower the former.
So yes, web3 may not have ended up fulfilling all white paper promises but is has been an eye opener that excess revenue was hoarded my centralized platforms. We have seen top platforms stepping up and it is very essential.
