Have you ever taken time to consider how strange the human heart is? You thought you were humble until you were given the stage and there everything exploded with potentials you never even saw coming.
I was going through the writings of Apostle Paul in the book of Romans where he was explaining why the law was put into effect; ‘so that ALL forms of transgressions may be made manifest and Christ in the process will pay for it all, once and for all’. It is really a mystery that can be very difficult to admit but truth can't be misplaced in this context.
Would you marry 1000 wives if you had the privilege to? I know this is you rejecting such thoughts again and again. So how about the case of King Solomon? You think he ever thought he would have married such a great number. To what use he would say and yes, this was when he wasn't blessed with so much knowledge.
We look at how the entire story changed when God poured out distinct wisdom capabilities on him. We can hear him say in Ecclesiastes 2:10 that ‘he didn't deny himself whatever his heart demanded’. I mean, how can a man ever think of pleasing himself with whatever his heart demands?
This can be seen as a high level of indiscipline from a man who was accredited for being the wisest man that ever lived (Actually Jesus surpassed him in wisdom; Mathew 12:42, Luke 11:31). Did you even know that Solomon was the first King in Israel to build an altar for false gods? Some of the strange women he brought in as wives wearied him to surrender for idolatry.
I am talking of the faith today because many of us ask God questions like God why not me and why not NOW. And well the appropriate answer can be why you and why NOW if actually you are waiting on God. We promise God up and down if he can just elevate us and that we will not end up like Mr. B who later derailed from the faith.

Ok, I am not saying one should profess negativity on himself but when making speeches and even connecting it with men that later failed, it should be out of meekness and not self echo; you don't know how dangerous you can be if all just went as you planned. Pray in meekness, Lord please help me, I don't want to end up failing you.
Saying ‘Lord, test my heart and see’ is actually trying to deceive yourself. Maybe you never knew God can TRY your faith in demo mode and well because it couldn't withstand the pressure and pleasures that accompanied it, you were still left pending until you actually mature. It is only a pity that some never matured (Consider the book of Isaiah 58:1-4).
To conclude, let me add, many of us do not know the God we try to outsmart. He is the alpha and the Omega (no unhidden knowledge about the past, present and future). If actually you are waiting on God for a divine shift, do well to always checkmate yourself.
It could be that you are the one engineering your delay because of your heart posture; God tries the heart, this is where the capabilities of every man is hidden. Being strong in times of hardship and when things are yet to work out is not a complete confirmation of your heart posture. ‘The worse form of slavery is pleasure’---dani-EL.
