A few days ago, talking with my sisters, I asked them which drinks they remembered with nostalgia, as something very tasty that they had once had and that never again, for various reasons, they have not had, but that unique and exquisite flavor remained in them.
Immediately one of them said: -peanut meringue-, something that the others had never tasted, so we asked where, when and with whom she had tasted that drink. Here I tell you the story.
My sister tells us that once my mother sent her downtown with my brother to buy something specific, and on their way back they were at the stop of the Aeronautical Museum waiting for the bus that would take them back home. In front of that stop there was what at that time was called a lunch room, baptized with the name "El Cubanito", I am talking about fifty years ago.
The place was very popular for the milkshake and sandwiches that they prepared there, besides being one of the few places of this type that existed in the city and that had an atmosphere of great joy during the nights.
When we were at the bus stop, my brother told her: "Girl, let's have a peanut milkshake there at the Cubanito. She says that she had it that one time and that it was so delicious that she keeps that taste and the moment as something very pleasant.
Ever since she told her story, I wanted to taste a great peanut meringue, so I bought the ingredients I considered necessary and yesterday I decided to make it.
I can tell you that it was tasty but not sublime as it was described, I think that was due to the ingredients I used, I think that if instead of milk I used creamy ice cream and instead of peanuts, peanut butter and I would skip the cookies, which at that time did not exist the result, I think that with that the famous meringue would be closer to what I imagine. At some point I will prepare it again with these ingredients and I will tell you the new result.
In the meantime, today I present it as I made it yesterday.
Ingredients (3 glasses approximately)
100 gr of peanuts
4 cookies with peanut butter
½ glass of water
6 level tablespoons of powdered milk
½ tablespoon vanilla
6 ice cubes
Sugar to taste.
Procedure
1.- The first thing I did was to rinse the peanuts to remove any remaining salt.
2.- I incorporated all the ingredients into the blender cup: first the peanuts, followed by the water, ice, milk, broken crackers, half a teaspoon of sugar and vanilla.
3.- We proceed to blend at high speed and with enough time for the peanuts to be very well blended.
4.- Ready! We have a tasty meringue that we serve in tall glasses and enjoy this tasty drink.
The truth is that we liked it, we found it tasty, however I feel that it lacked magic and this should be found in ingredients that provide more creaminess, I will see what happens next time. I will see what happens next time. Greetings.

Saludos.
