My entry to the #Monomad challenge: “Shopfronts along Haji Lane & Arab Street”
It's the first day of the workweek, and I'm already swamped with tasks. That’s the consequence of going on a nearly week-long holiday, only to return to my desk job with a long list of backlogged tasks. I spent half the day just catching up on emails and group chat messages to get up to speed with everything that happened while I was away. That’s part of having a full-time job—adapting to the company’s workflow and taking responsibility for tasks that fall under my role.
Thankfully, I managed to accomplish a good amount of the tasks I set for myself today, though it required working two extra hours to get it all done.
While it felt great to make solid progress, it was frustrating that my plan to finish early and catch the "blue hour" for my photo walk didn’t work out as intended.
I wrapped up work around 8:00 PM, which was well past the ideal time for photography. Still, I headed into the city, exploring Beach Road, Arab Street, and Haji Lane to snap some photos for my entry in the #monomad photography challenge.
I didn't have a specific theme in mind when I started my photo walk, so I simply let my feet lead the way until I spotted something interesting. Somehow, I ended up at the shophouses around the streets of the Kampong Glam area.
If you happen to pass by Haji Lane, one thing you'll notice is the trendy-looking shops lining the alley. I admire the creativity of the shop owners in making the fronts of their shops look so unique and interesting.
Arab Street also features some cool attractions. There are plenty of shops and restaurants popular among tourists visiting the Kampong Glam area. I suppose the Middle Eastern cuisine and crafts are a major draw for tourists looking to experience something unique in this country.

And of course, as a reward for today's hard work, I treated myself to a sundae with brown sugar pearls. It's the kind of treat teenagers typically prefer, but I also enjoy experiencing this sweet dessert. Mixue is the best!
Overall, today's adventure was a refreshing blend of exploration, creativity, and indulgence. From the vibrant streets of Kampong Glam to the sweet reward at the end, every moment was enjoyable. I'm already looking forward to the next discovery around the corner!
