Hey everyone! I finally wrapped up my latest artwork for the Holozing Community, and I'm so excited to share it with you! This time, I focused on two characters: the Skater Light Healer and Chirple.

Now, let me tell you, getting these two to work together was no easy task. From the start, I felt they didn’t vibe well together. As I began planning and brainstorming ideas, I was trying to figure out how to pair a healer with a Holomon. But there was one thing I was dead set on... I wanted to create a skater character. I quickly realized that a water-type healer or a forest-type just wouldn’t fit the style I had in mind. So, I decided to go with a neutral option; the light healer. I felt like this character matched the skater vibe perfectly.

So, I looked at some posts from the Holozing account for inspiration. But when I saw the reference for the healer character, I realized it wasn’t going to mesh well with my skater design. The reference they provided felt way too formal and didn’t have that action-packed energy I was going for. So, I decided to tweak the healer’s appearance to better fit the theme.

I started comparing elements from other designs, and I noticed that the water-type healer’s hair would look awesome on my skater character. I made the swap, and honestly, it worked out better than I expected! The final result came together nicely.

So, here it is... the finished artwork!

But before we dive into that, let me walk you through the process of how I created it.

Step 1Step 2Step 3

For the sketch, I broke it down into four main parts: the bird, the character, the clothes, and the skateboard. I assigned different colors to each part to help me visualize them better while drawing the outlines. This technique really clicked with my style, making it easier to trace everything during the outlining stage.

Step 4Step 5Step 6

Once I was happy with the sketch, I finalized all the outlines and added the details to the characters.

Step 7Step 8Step 9

Coloring was a breeze after that. I used the wand tool to select the areas where I wanted to apply colors and then filled them in using the paint bucket tool.

For shading, I kept it simple by using just one tone of dark shade to create shadows and some light colors to highlight the brighter areas of the characters.

Step 10Step 11Step 12

And then came my favorite part... adding the effects! I used three types of blurs: Gaussian blur, radial blur, and motion blur, to different elements in the background, giving the whole piece a dynamic feel.
