Exercise: Describe a woman sad about losing her child.
Samantha had been in love. One greater than she ever imagined she could feel. Her child and her were two and one at the same time. And then that unbreakable bond, like a wide river filled with compassion, was broken in two with his death. The seas inside of her were trying to burst out of her, but found a space wide only enough for tears to leave. She was bursting helplessly, eternally exploding with the negative of all the feelings she had kept. She kept calling, imagining her second half lost somewhere, as if her voice could guide him back.
Exercise: Describe a woman sad about an ant she stepped on
Version 1:
The little crack under her shoe did not break her soul, but looking back to the small brown stain on the floor did make her look back on her life and realize that just as she had complained about others overlooking her, she was a giant in other people's lives who would carelessly kill countless living beings before her death was taken by her own malfunctioning body or someone took her life.
Version 2:
The little crack under Jennifer's shoe sounded to her like a small mountain had fallen in the horizon. Looking back, she wondered if this was this little ant's fate. She was a natural disaster flowing through these streets. Upon mentioning her feelings to her friends, they would mock her, for the lives of ants are meaningless. But then was she meaningless under the steps of gods? She could not make herself not feel sorry for this being who could be herself. She was not a hurricane bringing tragedy to the coastal regions. She was a conscious being who could have been attentive, but had chosen not to, and was therefore a heartless murderer, because she only felt a little sad, that's all, and would probably forget this event and sleep soundly tonight.
