I'm Uploading my Life to the Cloud [Preparations for Nomadity]
It's not very easy to use a 80 Gb computer in modern times. 1 anime season is 15 Gb, 1 season of Mr Robot is like 15 Gb, the Operative System is 20 Gb, Nodejs modules in all my projects are 10 Gb, a bit of software is 15 Gb, that's 75 Gb total, and I'm left with 5 spare Gb for random downloads, documents and other stuff.
That is why I'm uploading everything to the cloud. I want my computer to be usable, and I also want not to have to carry my hard drive everywhere to have my data. Mega.nz has enough encryption for basic stuff, and if I don't upload my node_modules folder, my Nodejs codebase won't be more than 50 megabytes at most.
Starting from a couple weeks from now, maybe around the first week of January, I will be officially cloudy and will be able to delete everything from my hard drive without losing anything. Someone gave me Spotify Premium for cheap (yay kinda pirate services), I've got a borrowed Netflix. I can re-download my anime series from torrents because it's a very popular one, so I don't need to have it.
All I need now is a list of all I have. My next step is to build an inventory while I upload everything to the cloud and delete the replaceable stuff. I will then format my hard drive which is being occupied by a 420 Gb drive of dead space (it's 500 originally).
Why does Windows have to be so mean to me :( I never did anything wrong to Bill Gates. It's so slow and it expires and I have to keep pirating it and fixing it and reformatting it.
I'm happy because I'm finally doing what I really wanted to do since a long time ago. I'm also following a few suggestions by @schlafhacking to encrypt my more essential data and store it in a pen drive. Really cool! Now if I play it smart, I can be just as I am right now, but way more comfortable because I won't be dependent on HDD space to expand my "operation" (life).
