This is my first post in the Wednesday Walk community and will share a wee hike I did yesterday afternoon with my son.
For the past few weeks, I have been doing the dreemport challenge. One of the tasks is to do at least 20 minutes of exercise every day of the week. For the past two weeks, I have been doing well. But last Monday, I did absolutely nothing. And it was overall a bad day as far as the challenge was concerned. So when my son invited me yesterday to go for a short hike on a trail near our house, I immediately said yes. This way, besides having a good time with him, I would make up for the lack of exercise the day before.
This mountain route is about 5 minutes drive from where we live.
Before starting the ascent, there is a small walking area where an Araguaney caught my eyes. These days, I love how the yellow golden trumpet trees adorn the streets and parks of the city.
The Araguaney (Golden Trumpet) usually blooms in March and April, giving us its intense yellow color. It is also the national tree of Venezuela. And although this particular one was not the leafiest of them all, I still couldn't help taking a picture of it. As their vibrant yellow always makes me feel full of energy.
Although there is still a bit of drought as the rainy season has not yet fully started. We had some rain in the last few days, so the green vegetation is showing again.
White lantana flowers like these were in abundance along the road.
This little wonder of nature also caught my attention, and according to google lens, it is called Cynophalia.
From the highest point of the trail, the views are breathtaking, and you can see a large part of the city with mountains in the background.
And of course, the Avila, always majestic although it was cloudy and could not be seen in all its splendor.
The route is quite pleasant, although late in the afternoon when we went, there were some mountain bikers, so we had to be careful on the narrow sections.
There were several trees very leafy like the one in this picture.
And from what I could research, thanks again to google lens, they are a kind of Albizia trees.
It took us about 30 minutes to walk the whole trail.
And finally, the route took us back to a walking road that goes parallel to the main road of the neighborhood.
At the end of the route, we took the car again. And we couldn't avoid stopping at a nearby stall to have some cocadas (coconut creamy iced drink).
