Birds of the same feathers,always flock together.
It's an old adage that roughly translates to "Apples don't fall far from the tree." It essentially means that the people you follow or socialize with will share your personality characteristics.
In general, people associate with those who share similar interests. A person who enjoys hiking, bicycling, and other outdoor recreational activities, for example, is likely to have companions with similar interests. People are more likely to socialize with others who have similar interests.
If, on the other hand, you hang out with the "wrong crowd" or with dishonest people who indulge in illegal activities, such as drug use, you will most likely attempt drugs or engage in similar illegal actions as a result of peer pressure or curiosity sooner or later. After all, they're being done by your buddies.
People in your company will have an impact on you, and vice versa. Socialize with people who have positive character attributes including values, integrity, ethics, and life aspirations. People often make assumptions about a person's character based on the company they keep. That is what the expression "birds of a feather flock together" refers to.
Even in nature, flocks of a single species of bird are quite common. This behaviour is explained by ornithologists as a safety in numbers' strategy to lessen the risk of predation.Humans with similar tastes/characteristics create groups or seek out people who have similar tastes/characteristics. We want to minimize the chance of meeting people who are significantly different from us since it is difficult to interact with and predict them. When dramatically different people meet, history reveals that the results are frequently violent.
My Grand Father, Chief Nwamadi 1901 - 1999, was a Policeman, Patrolman in Port-Harcourt. He Retired Way back in the 1960s. He would alway’s tell his Kids and Grandkids this, “Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you what you are. “
"If you only hang out with drug addicts all the time, it safe to assume you are either one of them or an undercover police officer.If you are seen in uniform with other uniformed people doing the same type of work then I would assume you belong on the same team."
Sometimes Judges make it a condition of ones Parole not to be in the presence of any Felons, or other Drug Addicts or people in possession of drugs or alcoholic. Because Birds of a feather will and do flock together, in the wild and in this Wild World we call Society aka(Civilization).
Actually in case of friends or any other things regarding human relationships,it's better to go with the time. Time is the best teacher who will teach you and give you a experience, if you believe it. As the time passes you will only understand everything and will finally have good friends.
Had a similar experience when I joined a new high school and had a friend named Eric.
One day,he brought six of his own friends into our home and started we all started doing drugs. When we got drunk and then I fell asleep,he put beer and salt in my games console and also bite into my discs and even tried to force himself on my niece who was with us that day. I lost many friends because their toxicity was beyond what regular people would consider a removable offence.
At the end of that day Grandpa's words began to re-echoe in me“Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you what you are. “ and I had to cut away from them.
