Like a leaf

I have fallen for the beliefs
of those who came before me

of those who have power over me

to tricks and games and schemes
and things that a wiser me would never allow
but through those same experiences
was where my wisdom was gained.

again and again and again
fallen for the cocktail of chemicals
produced in my own mind
synthesised on the spot
in reaction
response
to the person in front of me
I have fallen
I have fallen more solidly on my feet these days
fallen into the wisdom I've accrued
amassed
collected
on my long days of travelling
to new places with new faces
where I learned new lessons
that hurt me deep
and taught me well
I have fallen
Nowadays, I have fallen more deeply into a state of grace
of gratitude
of abundance
for everything I have fallen for
for everyone I have fallen with
for everything I have fallen into
I have fallen
and I am glad.
