My pandemic partner asked me today where I might like to go for a few days adventuring and this got me thinking of road tripping. This quickly turned to what I'd put on my 'Speeding Ticket Playlist' to listen to along the way. Since I'm always looking for new music to listen to and curious as to what makes other people want to put the pedal down I thought I'd post about it. So what do you listen to when you've got to cover some ground?
Few of my favorites:
Copperhead Road - Steve Earle -- This song about got me a speeding ticket in Rocky Mountain National Park
Little Black Submarines - The Black Keys -- The summer after this song came out I had a 78 Firebird at my disposal, we burned a lot of dinosaur bones to this tune
Radar Love - Golden Earring -- Heard this song so many times growing up that I quickly tuned it out. Found myself listening to it while rolling down the interstate one day, had to revise my opinion of it
Fuel - Metallica -- I'm of the opinion that any Metallica will do on a road trip but this one is probably the most topical of theirs
Willin' - Little Feat -- This song is the reason I spent the night in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Supposedly got the singer kicked out of Zappa's band
Money for Nothing - Dire Straits -- When that guitar kicks in, how can you not put the hammer down?
Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne -- Volume up, windows down, hope there's no cops around
Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots -- For when you must cross the Plains of Monotony, otherwise known as Kansas
Flirtin' With Disaster - Molly Hatchet -- If it was good enough for NASCAR 98, it is good enough for me!
Never Gonna Change - Drive By Truckers -- If you're gonna go fast, you've gotta have the music to go with your defiance of traffic laws
Ok, that's enough out of me, what's some of y'alls songs to get speeding tickets to?
