This coming Saturday is the one year anniversary of Breonna Taylor's killing by LMPD, and I suspect that there will be lots of people here taking to the streets that day. I will definitely be one of those people, hopefully I'll have some new photos for you after this weekend!
All of these photos of protesters are from June of last year. I was a bit hesitant to shoot too many protesters last year for fear that law enforcement would use them to identify and retaliate against protesters. With all the livestreamers that was out filming regularly, I suspect that is less of an issue than I had initially thought might be the case.
Since it has been cold people have been organizing caravans instead of marches but hopefully that is about to change. The photo above is of someone who was sitting on the roof of a vehicle that had been a part of a caravan.
The photo above was taken the day the National Guard had killed David McAtee. We had marched to 26th & Broadway where he was shot to hold a memorial for him and thumb our noses at the curfew. The guy with the megaphone was the one MC-ing the memorial, it was difficult to get a clear shot of him due to the sheer number of people in the street.
I'm not quite sure what to expect this weekend, hopefully they don't call the National Guard in again. Time for me to square away my gear for this weekend, y'all keep your head down and your powder dry!
