Isolation, Depression, Chipped Tooth

No one in the waiting room saw me make crazy faces like this.
I think...

My smile has been restored to its full glory! It's been a few years. I missed three previous appointments due some effects alcohol abuse. Namely, depression and and a complete lack of will to get out of bed and interact with the world at all. Those days are steadily fading away, I'm glad to say.

My dentist did a terrific and speedy job. I was so impressed! It's nearly impossible to tell it's not 100% tooth. Just a slight change in texture is noticeable on the back of the tooth.

If you have something cosmetic like this and it's within your means to get it fixed, by all means, do it. Do not put it off. I'm lucky enough to have finally gotten this done while I still have beneficial insurance in the US.

My lack of a full smile imposed an ever-present weight on my self-esteem. There are so few pictures of me with a nice big smile. I stopped dating for fear of being found repulsive. I put off job hunting for as long as I could. In short, I retreated to a greater extent than what my introverted, social anxiety-y ways would have induced on their own. And that's a damn shame. My broken front tooth became a self-perpetuating defect (or feature might be a better word): isolation bred depression, depression exacerbated alcoholism which, in turn, bolstered depression and isolation. What a terrible trio.

Let's all go outside!

More good news: I have a job interview tomorrow! I'm excited! ...and terrified. Wish me luck!

More happy days are headed my way!
