Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I was going through some of my photos looking for a Wednesday Walk series and grabbed these!
Summer Memories Walk
One of the things about summertime in the northern hemisphere is that you tend to appreciate it a bit more when it's a finite amount of time! I know that one day we will live in an area where it's summertime, or at least nice and warm, a fair bit of the year but we aren't there yet so I get to savor these moments! Lol.
The trip we recently took over the summer to the mountains was definitely one of my favorite ones so far of the past few years! It was really nice to go up there and spend some time doing the fun outdoors things that we like to do, even if the weather wasn't always cooperating. It did rain a fair bit up there compared to back home where it wasn't raining a drop for weeks on end! Lol. I guess that's what you get when you mix the warm air blowing north from the southern area, and the cool air that's circling the mountains. Plenty of rain to keep flowing downstream!
When we got to the mountain resort here, I was blown away at how beautiful it was! The little pond here was great but the backdrop of the mountain there was so incredible to look at when we were fishing.
One of the things I wanted to do, but didn't end up doing it this time, was going up on the lookout tower there! It cost money which I thought was a little annoying because we were already paying a hefty price to stay at the hotel, the tower should be part of the package lol but it wasn't so alas I didn't get any shots from up there. I'm wondering if we go up for a foliage ride if we stop there and grab a few pictures, would be a good way to spend a dollar or two! The lookout certainly has incredible views, and I can imagine that you can see all of the mountains from up there so that's gotta be a thing that I've got on my list.
The thing I really liked about the pond here though, is that it had beautiful views for sure but it was also fairly sheltered from the wind! The water most often looked like glass as you can see here, which made it so cool for snapping some photos and getting a look at! Granted, when you're fishing and casting in the water there's going to be some disturbance lol but the water isn't choppy as hell like some of the other areas would normally be.
The morning shot here though is definitely one of my favorite pictures of the summertime. I love the streaks of sunlight you can see coming from behind the mountain there and the combination of the fog raising above the water made it such an awesome shot, and one that I'm happy to have been able to take as I walked around the pond on our morning fishing adventures a few weeks back.
With the weather taking a significant turn for the colder these past 2 weeks, I'm really longing for these pictures here hahaha because it reminds me of how nice it was to spend time up there in the warmth of the end of summer, but with the fall smell in the air ever so slightly. If you're from the area or living in the area for a period of time, you can certainly recognize the smell of fall when you are outside in these areas!
