I'm taking a break of paying my fasting debt 😊 what's that? All muslim who is eligible to do the fast during Ramadhan or Fasting Month should fasting the whole month (29 or 30 days), for the women who must stop fasting due to their period or other reasons like on journey to far away places, breastfeeding their baby or health issues, They have a choice to subtitute the fasting after Eid till next Ramadhan. Though, for some of the reasons I mentioned, they can pat the debt by feeding up the poor people😊 but in my case, I need to fasting for 8 days (I lost that 8 days😊)
I've done 5 days😆 3 more days to go, but I decided to take it easy and take a break. I feel like something missing inside my body, which mean I'm craving for something😂. Right when Kang Jawir, the vegetable seller stopped by, I saw the leaves and suddenly grab it all😇
this is pohpohan leaf aka pilea melastomoides, dunno other name of it. Perhaps
@hangin or
@macoolette or
@shadowlu could help me too, TIA😉
This leaf is not very popular for the people who lives in coastal area like me😊 only a few friends from my hometown knew about this leaf because they've consumed it when they've been in Sunda or West Java. Yeap.. though it can grows from 700-1700 m above the sea level, mountain!
Kang Jawir told me that we can cultivate this by planting the old stem, but he always brought me the shoots😊 and he suggested me to go to Puncak, a famous highland in West Java.
Well.. Puncak is not too far from my neighbourhood, about 2-4 hours to go there by car during weekdays and 8-12 hours during weekend or national vacation days. That's not a good option just to find the place where pohpohan is cultivated.
this is how I enjoy the leaves😉
Take the fresh and raw leaf, put a spoon of rice, add the special chilli's sauce aka sambal trasi, wrap it up and eat it☺.
how's the taste? The leaf?
This fragrance leaf is a mixture of basil, mint and lettuce's taste. Can you imagine it? I might be wrong, because I'm not good on describing the taste 😂😂😂 but I like the crunchy sound like chewung the lettuce, the tangy taste of basil and cool sensation of mint!
what about its benefit?
This leaf contains more than 749 mg calcium for every 100 grams, which mean this is a good source of calcium for your bone and tooth. I read some articles about the benefit, at least more than 15 benefits for your health are on the list. What about me? Whay I said my body craving it?
I have a sorethroat for more than 40 days now, my GERD is disturbing my appetite and my back is a bit in pain too😁 yeaahh.. Im getting old😅😂 but consuming this leaf (about 200 grams alone) really help me to cope with all that issues (perhaps it is just my suggestive mind😆) the effect is...
I want it more!
Greedy Lizzie😂😂 I remember that nick name from my childhood when it cames to fruits! But this is veggie.. not fruits😯 well.. time flies, people changed and here I am😆.
Kang Jawir was runs out of the leaves when he stopped by today😆 so I bought the basil leaves😊. I cooked the chicken in sweet soy sauce today, but I'll the guys have it. I'll be fine with the basil and hot rice.
chicken in sweet soy sauce
By the way, pohpohan aka pilea melastomoides only available in several part of Asia, you can consume it fresh and raw though you can cook it or use it as a wrap for other dish like the stuffed cabbage or grape's leaf.
