My Wednesday Walk in the Sky Postponed

If thing closes every time the wind blows....
Looks like The Redwood Sky Walk Post will be delayed till after June 4th.
Since I can't walk in the sky today I'll just walk on the ground like always and give you a peek at the sky walk from the forest floor.
I'm heading down the Duck Pond exit road easy to go down but a real huff and puff going up =p
The road bottoms out at the pond, I'm going to the left here and make my way to the back of the pond.
Looking across the pond is on of the biggest forest ferns I've encountered in the park. It's so big it has turned into a small tree. If you look close you can pick out runners the fern has run into the pond and to the bottom. Unlimited nutrients and water did a fern good.
Alrighty we have passed the pond and heading down the right fork of the canyon behind the pond
Some of the biggest trees in the park are in this area and once in a great wile one of these giants falls. Note. When one of these things falls you don't just hear it you feel it.
The fallen tree here is well over 50 years old and a favorite place to play around on as a kid.
Here is a shot from right next to that fallen log looking up into the trees.

You can see one of the platforms just right of center.
As I reach the back of the canyon I can start to make out the network of platforms and walkways spreading through the forest canopy.
It will be interesting to check out the engineering on this as well the great photo opportunities this presents.
Above is a shot up the canyon at the climb up/down for the walk.
Not bad overall but I can see why they are nervous about the wind, the trees do sway several feet in some cases. I can imagine one multi ton tree goes this way, another goes the other way, throw in some lateral wind sheer and presto.
After making my way back to the back of the pond area I stopped at one of the benches to eat my lunch and take in the sunny day and enjoy myself.
