Homemade Granola recipe

Granola boosts your energy, it has so much nutrition, and it tastes so yummy.   Granola is filled with vitamin C, E , fibers, potassium, zinc, phosphorus, iron, calcium, magnesium, and niacin. It is a heart healthy food.  It is so much cheaper to make your own granola, and you also know what is in the ingredients.  The fun thing is you can add many different ingredients to granola. It is all up to you what you want to put in your granola.  You can add flaxseed, almonds, walnuts, pecans, dried cranberries, raisins, dried cherries, dried coconut flakes,  chocolate chips, or even peanut butter.

I have made many recipes, and decided to make my own recipe for making granola.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of oats ( whole rolled oats)
  • 1/2 cup of walnuts ( raw no salt)
  • 1/2 cup of almonds ( raw no salt)
  • 1/3 cup of apple juice
  • 1/3 cup of honey
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons of ( olive oil)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/2 cup of raisins  (or any dried fruit you wish to add )  ( dried cranberries, dried coconut flakes, dried cherries) I used raisins because that is what i had in my cupboards .
  • Parchment paper

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Measure the brown sugar and apple juice, add it to a saucepan on low heat.  Let the brown sugar dissolve and then remove from heat.

Using a large mixing bowl add the 3 cups of rolled oats, nuts, dried fruit, oil, the ingredients from the saucepan add ( brown sugar and apple juice), honey, and vanilla.  Mix all the ingredients together with a wooden spoon.  It is pretty sticky.  I ended up using my sauce pan because it was large enough to hold all the ingredients and less dishes. When you done stirring up all the ingredients, using a large cookie sheet put the parchment paper as a liner in the cookie sheet.  Evenly pour all the ingredients onto the parchment paper.

Evenly spread a thin layer of the granola on the parchment paper.

Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.

let the granola cool for about 15 minutes.  You can store it in a sealed container for two weeks.  The granola can be used for cereal, yogurt topping, or just to snack on.  You can also make it for a gift to someone.

Yields about 7 cups. Here is a link that tells you about all the nutritional facts for granola https://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/other/granola.html I hope you enjoyed my posts.  Thank you for reading my post.
