IF YOU DIE, THERE'S SPACE AT THE BACKYARD TO BURY YOU
I stumbled on a post where people shared some cutting statements their parents said to them growing up.
I saw many horrible stuff but the one that caught my attention was "If you die, there's space at the backyard to bury you."
I was shocked but what shocked me more were the comments.
Many people laughed over it and said it was no big deal.
I honestly can't relate. I mean, what's funny about telling a sick child "if you die, there's space at the backyard to bury you"?
But I don't blame anyone though.
People only get used to things they're exposed to and hence, normalize them.
However, just because you come from a background that packages curses as jokes doesn't mean you should continue the trend.
Negative patterns can be broken.
Remember, there's power in the spoken word.
So instead of "if you die, there's space at the backyard to bury you", say, "you shall not die but live"
Say "I decree health upon you" etc.
If you wear curses the regalia of jokes, I cannot be your friend. Over here, we are only permitted to speak life.
So, this is a very vulnerable post.
I’m a writer, well, I guess I am, seeing that I’m in this group. I haven’t made any money from writing yet. Well, I have just one non ex book on 3 platforms and I haven’t really made any money yet from it.
And when I see others making money, Yunno, I start getting bothered, thinking of when my turn will come, but I know it will, eventually.
I just wanna know if I’m doing something wrong. My book is a non ex and it’s been gaining a few cents over the past 2 months or so because that’s when I started writing and it’s not even up to the withdrawal threshold.
So I don’t know, I’m not saying it to discourage anyone, I was just… I just felt like putting it out there, maybe there’s something I’m doing wrong. But I know I’ll get it right eventually.
