Hello everyone it's your girl 
I honestly don't know what is more scary about The Nun, the demonic nun or the fact that she appears in a place where you would normally expect to feel safe 😭.
I've watched horror movies, but there is something about The Nun that feels different. It's more scary than the horror movies I've watched 🥹.
The movie started with a nun who mysteriously took her own life. She hung herself to death. The Vatican then sent Father Burke and Sister Irene, a young nun who was yet to take her final vows to go and investigate the mysterious cause of the death.
They later met a young man, Frenchie, who knew the area very well, and they sought help from him. He then helped them reach the Monastery.
But when they got there, something about the place felt wrong. They had an eerie feeling about the place. It was dark, old and isolated. The movie became more scary when they started investigating deeper and found out that the abbey had a very disturbing history.
At this point, if I was a character in the movie, I would have left without a second thought 😂. I won't even care about completing the assignment because my safety comes first before any other thing.
Just when I thought I had seen the worst part of the movie, then comes Valak. A demon that took the appearance of a nun. And beneath the whole façade, there was an entity more terrifying than what the physical eyes could see.
It's appearance alone was enough to create fear. What made the demon even more terrifying was the way it didn't have to raise its hand or do anything to attack anyone. It just simply stands at a corner with a pale face, terrifying eyes and with an expressionless face and trust me, that's even worst.
Honestly, at this point of the movie, I was so terrified. I just knew they walked into a deadly trap.
The suspense was one of the most interesting things about the movie. You know when you know something bad is about to happen but you don't know how it will happen or when. They walk into an abandoned dark room and it got me thinking " pls, don't go in there...leave that place immediately!!." 😂
The movie did a good job in creating that suspense and fear; The dark corridors, the parish, the grave yards, the old rooms, eerie sounds and the jump scares too, made me constantly feel like something evil was watching them. 😵💫
One the best characters in the movie was Sister Irene. Despite being young and inexperienced, she portrayed elements like, faith, severance, braveness. Even when the events got more scary, she didn't start faltering and give up.
A unique quality about the movie is it's deviation from the original traditional portrayal of nuns. They are usually seen as meek, holy, peaceful, so seeing one being transformed into a representation of something demonic and evil creates an unsettling contrast.
Was The Nun terrifying? Absolutely.
In the end, the Nun reminded me that evil may test your faith, but it should never make you lose it. When you hold firmly to God, even in the darkest moments, you can find the courage to face what scares you most.
