Imagine losing someone you love so much and being told that one day, they could completely disappear, not because they died, but because nobody remembered them anymore. It's so heartbreaking 😢
When I watched the movie "Coco" I didn't expect an animated movie to carry so much emotions. At first, it looked like a simple story of a young boy who loved music but as the movie progressed, it became a beautiful lesson of the importance of family, dreams, forgiveness, love, and keeping beautiful memories of of our loved ones so that even when they have passed away, you can always remember them and the times you shared together.
The story followed Miguel Rivera, a young boy who had one big dream to become a musician but unfortunately for Miguel, music was forbidden in his family because of a past experience.
He didn't give up. Miguel was stubborn and determined. He didn't understand why his family forbade music and believed that something that brought him happiness and peace, had brought them nothing but pain. He continued practicing in secret, hoping that one day, he could become like the famous musician he admired so much, Ernesto de la Cruz.
Determined to prove himself, one day during the Mexican celebration of Día de los Muertos, Miguel entered Ernesto's tomb to take his guitar. But instead of simply getting what he came for, he suddenly found himself transported to the land of the dead.
This was where the movie became even more interesting 😁.
On getting to the land of the dead, he met his dead relatives he never knew, and while searching for a way back home he discovered a shocking secret.
One of the most interesting things about Coco was how it connected the living and the dead. It didn't portray the Land of Dead as somewhere so frightening with so much pain and suffering. Instead, it was colourful, beautiful, it was a place people could reunite whenever they died physically. It showed that death wasn't the end.
But there was something so heartbreaking. The fact that a person could eventually die completely if no one in the physical world remembered them.
The movie showed that death did not necessarily end the connection between people. Stories, photographs, songs and memories could make a person who had left the world, still feel as though, they never left.
Also, the song " Remember Me" there was something so deep and emotional about the song🥺. It was about love, memories and the fear of being forgotten. It showed that you don't need to physically see someone in order to love them. Sometimes, a memory, a photograph, a voice or even a song can bring someone back to us for a moment.
By the end of the movie, I understood that it's important to create beautiful memories with your loved ones while they are still alive. Because sometimes the most important thing we can leave behind isn't the money, possession or even fame, but the memories we would always cherish forever.
