Do you know how hard it is to keep silent
When you have so much to say?
All those emotions,
That hunger crawling inside of you
Struggling to break free.
Do you feel?

Have you ever been curious
About why everything has a name?
Some call it a definition
Even when it doesn’t fit in.
Yet no one questions it.
Do you know?

It’s like black or white,
Big or small,
Back or front, this thing.
A burning furnace that needs to be quenched,
But one that cannot be extinguished.
Do you see?

Listen, let me tell you
Why everything is such a mess.
It’s because of you and I.
Decisions we make, what we allow.
They rule us and we live with them.
Do you understand?

This poem is an attempt to put my jumbled thoughts into words. These past few days have been filled with overwhelming emotions I can’t seem to grasp. A lot of sad events on the news. Real life issues affecting people like you and I. When will it get better?
