I guess there are moments like that. Moments where it seems like everything is happening to you all at the same time. As in, you’ve barely recovered from one bad news, and you’re hit with another one, and another… and it just keeps coming. You can’t avoid them, because whether you’re ready for them or not, you need to handle it.
And I have to admit, it can be overwhelming. What am I even saying? It is overwhelming! Being bombarded by bad news daily, having to see the structure and system that you painstakingly built over a period of time, seeing it crumble right before your eyes, and there’s literally nothing you can do to stop it or slow it down. Nothing. Or even worse, you know what to do, you know the solution that you need, but for one reason or the other, that solution is just out of your grasp.
It’s crazy, yeah, I know. But the truth is that many times, we only take stock of the bad days like these. We focus on the days when it seems like everything is going wrong because those are the days we’re usually at our lowest and having the worst kind of feeling. And in all that, it’s easy to forget that there are also days when it seems like everything is going right with us.
I’m sure we’ve all experienced that as well, at one time or the other. A period when everything just seems to be working for our good, and we seem to be getting good news upon good news from every corner. When we’re in such situations, we’re happy, and we rejoice. Which is what makes such periods so unforgettable, because we’re happy and it’s a good thing. But people tend to remember more the period when they were really down.
So, what's the point of this post? Honestly, I don’t think I really thought it through. I just wanted to encourage someone. The world has been going crazy for a while now, and everyone is affected. The war that’s going on between Iran, Israel, and the US is affecting me all the way in Lagos. Decisions that politicians are making in Abuja and also here in Lagos are affecting my life and the decisions I make. And from the look of things, regardless of how hard you try, regardless of the efforts you put in, it just looks like there’s a force that’s insisting that you remain in the hole you’re desperately trying to crawl out of.
Things are bad; hell, they’re terrible. But I’m refusing to let it drive me crazy. It doesn’t matter how many things go wrong at once; it doesn’t matter how hard it might seem to bounce back, but what matters is that I do bounce back. No matter what!
Life is just too short to live it being sad about things that are beyond my control, especially when I know without a doubt that if it were within my control, I would definitely fix it. So, no more worrying for me. Just good vibes, a Hail Mary, and a million-dollar smile.
What could go wrong?
