Have you already hear about this method of nutrition?
If not, I strongly encourage you to read this brief entry.
Intermittent fasting, actually the 16/8 diet. In short, this method consists of fasting for 16 hours (only water, coffee, tea, etc.) is allowed. Then we eat normally for 8 hours.
For people who have never tried something like that and are used to eating breakfasts and/or snacking something from the fridge in the evenings that type of diet seems to be a nightmare.
But is it really so?
For the first time about the IF diet, I learned from some Tim Ferris books, probably 4 Hour Body if I remember correctly. I skipped this topic because there the author focused more on a different form of this method, namely 5/2 or 6/1 which corresponds to not eating almost anything for 1 day and normal nutrition for the rest of the week, 6 days. At that time, I immediately rejected this option because I could not imagine how I would do it.
However, at 16/8 I found out about six months ago and I decided to try it right away.
Why right away?
Well, this form of diet really fit in my life, because I had quite enough breakfast, and I would very happy to limit evening snacking because nothing good resulted from it. I tried to do physical training or running every day, so the morning breakfast always crossed my plans.
I am from those people who eat a lot at one time. I know that this is not the best way, but oh well. I already have it, maybe someday I can limit it.
One day, somehow at the beginning of September, I decided not to eat breakfast, but instead, just after getting up I simply went running. And what turned out?
I did not die, I did not faint, during the run I felt very good.
After returning home and shower, I felt a slight hunger, but it was not a terrible feeling. So I went to work. At work at about 13 o'clock, I ate my first meal. So it was about 6 hours after getting up and almost 17 hours from the last meal.
After this experience, I found out that it was a method for me.
It turned out that I only needed a few days to get used to it, the morning hunger completely disappeared. Due to the fact that I happen to drink a lot of coffee, with the advice of some article, I decided to take extra magnesium, more or less every other day.
Since then, I have been using IF for almost half a year. At the beginning, I used the Vora app to track the hours, but now I do not need it anymore. I know, sometimes I make a shorter post or do not follow these rules for a few days at all. Especially when I am at home and fed by my parents.
After that, I always feel hunger for the first day or two when I return to the habit of fasting for 16 hours, but it's a good feeling and I'm used to it.
I recommend this lifestyle, especially for those people who are busy, exercising or running early in the morning. Really, exercising on an empty stomach feels great.
Someday I will write something more about it. However, I must first sort the information on this subject.
Take care guys! Please comment or vote if you like it!
