Some announcements before we get to our featured posts for this week:

• Help wanted. We're looking for curators to join our team. We especially need help evaluating digital art. Curators will be paid 1,000 CCC weekly for their work and help select the artists featured in The Five. We have over 430,000 staked CCC available to curate with; if you would like to help us reward the artists of Hive, send a message on Discord to cliffagreen#1444.

• New curators. We're pleased to announce that @jesuspsoto and @elemarg25 have joined our curation team, @jesuspsoto as Spanish literature curator and @elemarg25 as photography curator. This week's edition of The Five includes two selections from @jesuspsoto.

• Artist payments. As we announced in our Investor Report on July 26, artists featured in The Five now receive a one-time payment of 1,000 CCC each.

The photography of @borjan

In DRY TIMES IN THE BRACKISH POOL, @borjan overwhelms us with 145 photos, which explore the macro universe found in a small, dried-out coastal pool near his favorite beach. The vast number of images reflects the thriving miniscule world he is showing us, the world that exists beneath our feet, just beyond the usual notice of the naked eye. His text is informative and detailed, and helps to put us on location, in the moment, with the photographer as he explores.

The fiction of @saulos

Sabores intensos, una de las cinco partes de la serie, El pueblo del olvido, es un relato que nos recuerda que la ficción literaria debe su origen a las ilusiones, la fantasía, los sueños y la necesidad de expresar estados de ánimos o representar situaciones que permitan atrapar lo inasible. Es una narración que nos adentra en un mundo donde sólo existen ilusiones para atendernos, con un final que deja una explosión de sentidos en la mente.

The fiction of @seesladen

With clear, direct prose, @seesladen shows us a world populated by clones after the extinction of the human race in "The Clones...". This science fiction tale is constructed out of three primary elements: history, technology, and a rebellious protagonist. Through his character, the author offers an opinion on cloning, which is an under-the-radar technology at the moment, but presumably still developing and still a capability we humans need to develop an ethics for.

The teaching of @soulsdetour

Summer Tree Blossoms is a didactic text adorned with 11 photos of tree blossoms, which you can almost detect the fragrance of. The author gently directs us to a lesson of respect that can be discerned from the positioning of the flowers in our world. She reminds us that the fleeting beauty of flowers is filled with purpose, and that the passing beauty of our natural world should be cared for.
