Sometimes, the best memories aren't at the final destination, but along the way. A while ago, my girlfriend and I took a trip to Havana to visit some friends. On the journey, we decided to make a stop at a place that took our breath away: Las Terrazas, in the province of Artemisa.

Las Terrazas is an incredible place. It's a rural community and a sustainable development project nestled in the Sierra del Rosario, which is a Biosphere Reserve. Upon arriving, the first thing that strikes you is the peace. The air is pure, the green is intense, and the silence is only broken by the birds singing.

In the photos I'm sharing, you can see:

路 The lake: With water that looks like a mirror, perfectly reflecting the trees and the houses with red roofs. It's the perfect place to sit, breathe, and forget about the world.
路 The landscapes: The white houses with red tiles, the stairs going up through the vegetation, and the local people doing their daily chores by the water's edge.
路 Us: An obligatory selfie to immortalize the moment. We felt very happy to discover this corner of Cuba.

Even though it was just a brief stop on our way to the capital, Las Terrazas stayed in our memory. It's one of those places that show you that Cuba has impressive natural beauty and that, sometimes, you just need to stop and look.
