Sydney Fish Markets and Richmond Park orchid recce : March 28 2026
Got a different day lined up. Heading to Sydney Fish Markets with my wife's son and grandson. A first visit for me to new and old
Market is in the shadow of Anzac Bridge - I walked over the bridge on the 7 Bridges Walk a few months ago. Cannot say I noticed the grand new markets building from the bridge

Time to head indoors - a monster yellow fin tuna - from the top
The numbers - 171kg caught in Tasmania. Largest one I ever caught was 56kg off the Mozambique coast in 1973
Got Ollie to mimic the lobster - they walk backwards bottoms out. He liked that
Always on the lookout for Sky Tower shots in the city
Walked up to shops in late afternoon to get my phone lens cover fixed. 30 minutes she said
Walked up to Richmond Park to check for autumn orchids and kill 30 minutes

New patch of greenhood rosettes - not far below where I have seen them before. Nodding greenhood if my recall is right
Scurvy weed - not really a weed but it does spread. A native
Picked up the phone - somewhat taken aback by $176 for lens cover, new screen protector and a case for the phone. Too bad the lens cover fell out one day later. It is nice to have a screen that works every side
Butterflied prawns - half with lemon garlic butter and half with peri-peri - a Mozambique favourite
Cooked on bbq. About 5 minutes shell side down and then 2 minutes to sear
Served with chips and salad - yum
