Bonnet Orchids in a new spot : My Actifit Report Card: December 12 2021
First day for over two weeks with no rain but the sky did start grey. Late nights make me start grey too. Did get moving eventually.
Drove my wife to a big once a year charity book fair. As I am not allowed in, I went to a local Reserve to check a specific orchid seen this time last year
Kids have put up a nativity scene again this year. This one has a twist - lots of painted stones
Mushrooms are buzzing after a few wet weeks. The bearded orchid location from last year has had a recent hazard reduction burn. No orchids this season
Fun tendrils as the new leaves shape up
The kookaburra was happy to pose
Did find an orchid leaf
And a little further on was a flower - bonnet orchid - cryptostylis erecta is orchid for the day
Disappointed to not find the bearded orchid. I have only ever seen one in this spot. Maybe next year.
Spent the afternoon gardening. Mowed the back lawn. Planted out the veges I bought a few days back
Am hoping the bug screen works.
Dinner: Roast quail.
