Today I want to share the joy I feel over the divine miracle we experienced within our extended family. We are a truly close-knit family—so much so that we consider our nieces and nephews our own children, and our brothers-in-law are like brothers to us. Some time ago, two of my sisters passed away, yet their husbands remain a fundamental part of our family. This year, the health of one of my brothers-in-law deteriorated significantly; after some tests, a doctor mistakenly diagnosed him with lung cancer. Naturally, this devastated the family, even though we had noticed certain inconsistencies—such as the fact that he never required oxygen tanks. Eventually, after more in-depth testing and consultations with other physicians, it was determined that the diagnosis was incorrect. We were incredibly relieved, as our family simply could not bear any more pain. Fortunately, thanks to his treatment, his health has improved significantly, and he has even gained weight. Last weekend, it was his birthday, and we wanted to celebrate him.
He truly had a wonderful time: he ate, had fun, and chatted with everyone. It was a joy for us to see how he is gradually leaving his frailty behind; God is great and merciful, and that is precisely why we wanted to celebrate him. Everyone brought something to share: my niece (the birthday man's daughter) brought the cake and some appetizers, we brought appetizers too, others brought soft drinks, and together we put together a very pleasant little gathering.
Oh, and since the World Cup is in full swing, the excitement of watching a match couldn't be left out; in fact, the gathering was a mix of chatting and celebrating goals—even though not everyone was rooting for the same team, which made the evening even more fun.
We took advantage of the extra time to sing "Happy Birthday" and cut the cake, but it’s a family tradition to take photos of the birthday person with everyone—the whole family. It really made me laugh because when we went to take the picture of my brother-in-law with the nieces and nephews, the aunts were the ones taking the photos and they didn't turn out well—they were either blurry or didn't come out at all—and they started joking that they knew it would end up that way.
We sincerely hope for more moments like this—truly pleasant ones, filled with beautiful experiences to share; moments to celebrate life and thank God for miracles, because miracles do exist.
I send you all many virtual kisses and hugs, filled with abundant blessings.
