What exactly is wrong with the youth of nowadays?
I was bewildered by their display during one of the classes I had yesterday.
The lecturer was asking why the student choose to study computer science and he said he knew some of us wanted to learn it so we can use it to scam others and he told us a story about a boy who scammed the school.
The story goes thus
The boy started like every other fresher and when he was in his final year, he pulled a big stunt, he defrauded the school of 47 million naira and most of the students shouted Wow [ they were happy for him].
The school decided to track the criminal but by the time they found out, he was already in Norway. Most of the students were shouting, laughing, and jubilating that the criminal was not caught and the lecturer was like, are they supposed to be happy for the criminal or sad that the school incur such a massive loss and the person who did it was not caught?
Even I was surprised everyone was so happy at the turn of events, imagine celebrating someone who pulled such a big stunt, defrauding his school of such a big amount.
The story was meant to inspire others not to engage in fraud but instead, it only inspires them to engage in it, what a sad world!
Though, we have people like me that felt bad for the school's loss and also understand the message that the lecturer was trying to pass but the uproar of those that love what the boy did was much.
This is how people celebrate bad things, giving the perpetrator more confidence to do it again, it is only when those celebrating them become a victim that they will realize and feel the pain and damage done to others.
It is high time we stop supporting evil and make the world a better place because at the pace we are going, it would only get worse if many people keep supporting and promoting these evil perpetrators without thinking about the victims.
