Greetings and happy Saturday to the Shadow Hunters community! It is a pleasure to write on Saturdays; the tranquility of being at home without work worries is a true relief. That was when I saw the community announcement for this week's SMASH contest—round #444—and I wanted to submit my entry early on. Just yesterday, I captured these shadows at the computer science buildings; I hadn't planned on going to the university, but on Thursday night, my students messaged me with some academic questions. So, I had to go in to assist them, but I made sure to bring my phone with a full charge to capture any shadows I might find that day.

At first, I didn't find any shadows, so I went inside to meet with my students, aiming to leave as soon as possible since I had other classes to prepare. I finished at noon, and the sun was not only at its peak but the sky was completely clear; as I stepped out of the laboratory building, I encountered this shadow—or pattern of shadows—on the walkway leading away from the building. Since I usually arrive at the faculty very early and don't leave until 6 or 7 PM, I hadn't had the chance to appreciate this shadow, which apparently reveals itself during the midday hours.

I rarely pass through this spot because it is so narrow, but when you look up, the beauty of the architectural structure really stands out—a narrow, open space connected by horizontal beams. The interesting thing about it is the sense of openness; it allows sunlight to penetrate deep into the structure's spaces, creating—so to speak—a courtyard or a well of light and shadow. On the walkway's pavement, we see a succession of rectangular bands—created where the light is intercepted by the horizontal beams—forming that long pattern of light and shadow that captivated me from the very first moment. Although two weeks of September have already passed, I hadn't yet captured a shadow that truly evoked the arrival of autumn during this final quarter of the year; I believe this one embodies all the characteristics of a season that holds a special charm for me, marking the final months of classes and the approach of the Christmas holidays.

Para es un placer escribir los sábados, la tranquilidad de estar en tu casa sin preocupaciones laborales es un verdadero alivio, fue entonces que vi el anuncio de la comunidad para el concurso SMASH de esta semana en su round #444 y quería dejar mi aporte estos primeros días. Ayer precisamente, capturé estas sombras en los edificios de computación, y es que no tenía planes de ir a la universidad, pero el jueves en la noche me escribieron mis estudiantes para unas consultas académinas. Por lo que tuve que ir atender estos estudiantes pero me aseguré de llevar mi móvil con suficiente carga para caoturar las posibles sombras que encontrara ese día.

Inicialmente no encontré ninguna sombra, así que entré para dar las consultas a mis estudiantes y tratar de salir lo más pronto de allí ya que tenía que preparar otras clases que debo dictar. Terminé al medio día y el sol estaba no solo en su punto más alto, sino que estaba con cielo plenamente despejado cuando salí del edificio de laboratorios me encontré con esta sombra o patrón de sombras sobre la caminería que esta saliendo del edificio. Como normalmente llego muy temprano a la facultad y termino saliendo a las 6 o 7 pm y no había tenido oportunidad de apreciar esta sombra que al parecer se revela a las horas del medio día.

Pocas veces paso por este lugar dado lo estrecho que es, pero es cuando miras hacia arriba que destaca lo hermoso de esta estructura arquitectónica, es un espacio vacío estrecho unido por vigas horizontales. Lo interesante de todo esto es que siento una estructura abierta, permite que la luz solar entre profundamente en los espacios de esta estructura, generando por decirlo así un patio o pozo de luz y sombras. Vemos entonces en el pavimento de la caminería una suceción de franjas rectangulares que es donde la luz es interceptada por las vigas horizontales, generando ese largo patrón de luz y sombra que me encantó desde el primer momento. Aunque ya tenemos 2 semanas de septiembre, no había capturado una sombra que en cierta manera describiera la llegada del otoño en este último trimestre del año, y creo que esta sombra tiene todas esas características de esa temporada que tiene un encanto especial para mi, ya que son los últimos meses de clases y la llegada de las vacaciones en vísperas de navidad.
