[ENG] A seemingly quiet Friday. I held out faint hope of carving out a brief window for an easy jog around the lake, but those ambitions evaporated the moment my wife declared: “I’m cleaning the flat today.” To be fair, after 28 years of marriage, I really ought to understand the nuances of that phrase by now—we operate as one, which means her unilateral decision translates directly into mandatory joint labor. You live and learn, even at my age!

[ENG] In the afternoon, I had an appointment at the bank to untangle a downright absurd administrative mess. It turned out the bank had quietly pinned me onto a home-improvement loan that my brother and sister-in-law had originally taken out alongside my parents to renovate the house they all share. My father passed away nine years ago, and the bank simply presumed that his share of the debt rolled over to me as part of the estate. The kicker? In nearly a decade, nobody ever bothered to notify me, despite the fact that I’ve maintained an active account with that very same bank the entire time. After running through endless bureaucratic hoops, we finally signed an addendum releasing me from all liability and stripping my name off the loan agreement entirely. I certainly hope the paperwork holds up across their databases—I have zero intention of being on the hook for somebody else's debt.
