Have you ever tracked your activities each day from start to finish for a week? Have you tried to categorize those activities and see what % of your time you do certain things?
This creates a very clear representation of your priorities. It's a tedious task and one that takes many tries to get right. But, there is much to be learned along the way and improvements can be made immediately!
If you count each hour as one unit you have 24 hours per day and 168 hours per week 730 hours per month and 8,760 hours per year. I believe that success is found in the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual routine. Let's do a little math and get a glimpse of reality.
This first list alone will dominate your daily routine, but combined with the second list it will totally burry anyone. This is why it's so important to pay close attention to the types of activities you're doing on a daily basis and make sure they align with your desired lifestyle.
For me driving isn't something I enjoy much at all. As a matter of fact I hate it. It feels like an ancient world where primitive animals have to scoot around to make ends meet. The human species is ready to evolve above driving, but this is a story for another day.
I see driving to be a huge waste of time in my schedule when it's in there. I have let drive time and my distaste for it, dictate my current schedule where a tank of gas lasts me 1-2 months. Not only has there been a nice financial savings, I've received another benefit of lowered stress from less road rage, and lastly saved the time in my daily routine for more productive items. I'm not going to talk about any of the other items today, but you get where I'm going.
Prioritize your time based on your preferred lifestyle. Don't let the day pound down on you, start by tracking the activities your perform each day and see where your spend most of your time on a weekly basis. This should help point out areas that can be improved quickly. You can build momentum as you tweak your routine over time.
What are the top 5 activities you do on a daily basis and how many hours do you have left?
