Time management feels like one of those topics we all get yet nevertheless struggle with in actual life.
We wake up with a general sense of the things that require doing. And then the messages began to appear. Someone wants. anything. The phone rings for five minutes and twenty minutes just seem to disappear. By evening, you might be wondering where your whole day went.
Good time management is not about working every minute. It’s about knowing what to focus on.
It turns out that a very simple daily habit can make a tremendous effect. Instead of having to make a large list that feels impossible right off the get, pick a few critical things to start your morning. Finish one item well before you jump to another. Leave a little room between tasks, because the unexpected always seems to happen when you least expect it.
Some attention also deserves distractions. Endless scrolling, odd notifications and social media might slowly take more time than we think. Sometimes an hour with notifications off can do more than another sophisticated productivity hack.
Another good habit to get into is learning to say no. Not all requests demand an immediate reply. Not every meeting requires your presence. Not all work carries the same value.
And don't forget to rest.
A fatigued mind doesn’t turn miraculously productive just by glancing at your screen. Sometimes, a good break will get you more done than another exhausted hour in front of the computer.
Time keeps going, whether we’ve had a good day or a completely wasted one.
We have no control over the hours that come each morning. What is in our control is how we decide to use them.
Begin with little steps. Plan your day. Guard your focus. Make some space for living.
That’s typically enough.
