I don't know how I got here,
but here I clearly am.
I wonder if a mushroom
has made me mad again.
I look around bewildered—
the air is filled with haze.
My head can't find direction;
my mind can't shake the gray.
The signs all point to nowhere;
I can't tell what they say.
My brain is on the warpath,
and I'm the one to blame.
What be this foggy woodland?
How stand these trees so silent?
Who goes there in the vapor—
Wherefrom these fears of violence?
I want to pick my way out;
I want to stick the line.
But nothing looks familiar—
I'm lost in fading light.
Of all who cannot save me,
I'm sure I'm number one.
If there be savior searching,
Satan's surely long since stung.
