Living in the #NewSteem Doldrums | Ecency

The title of this post might lean more towards the "honest" rather than the "accurate". It is probably a safe guess that I am not the only one who is feeling this way.

I am going to reference a few people in this post. I want to set the record straight, I am not calling them our or dissing them. I have the utmost respect for pretty much everyone here on Steem and it is not my intent to cause dissension or issues.

#NewSteem has been here for several months now and for better or worse, it is working. Spam and crap posts being boosted by bidbots have more or less faded in to the background. Those abusers have either turned a new leaf or moved on to some of the other communities to start all over again with their behavior.

Many users such as @daan and even @exyle (to some extent) have stepped back from posting and started to focus solely on curating content. This makes me wonder if everyone steps back from posting to concentrate on curating, will there still be content to curate?

I know a handful of other bloggers that I follow and admire like @slobberchops, @bigtom13, and @robertandrew have started posting less and less. I personally can't blame them and I respect the reasons that each of them have.

I know as well as anyone how real life can get in the way of STEEM. Having to recently replace a vehicle as well as all the stuff we lost when our basement flooded has put @mrsbozz and myself in a tight position. As much as I would love to invest some more fiat into STEEM, it just isn't available.

Due to that fact, my account is growing slowly, but steadily. Surely more than some on the platform and less than others. I feel this 5000 to 10000 SP range is a unique position where you don't quite make enough for just curating to be worth it, but you also are too invested to just stop posting.

So here I am, just kind of kicking around in the middle ground of #newsteem, trying to figure out where I belong. Maybe that place is in one of the communities that haven't been created yet.

As you scroll through your feed, I am sure you can see pretty much every post falling into some community at some point in the future.

@exyle has been seeing it and talking about it for a long time, but now more than ever, I feel like are on the cusp of Steemit as we know it being a thing of the past.

As we drift off into our like-minded communities, I wonder how much content will still even exist on Steemit. Personally, I have been dual posting for a couple of months now. I try to do one post per weekday on Steemit and one post per weekday on SportsTalkSocial.

Online friends of mine like @cryptoandcoffee have all but moved exclusively to posting on a single tribe like SportsTalk. He has actually been having a great deal of success on that front end and it occasionally makes me wonder if I am wasting my time still posting to Steemit.

Don't get me wrong, I have no intention of leaving. I am just at a point where I am trying to figure out if I am focusing my free time in the area that is most edifying and beneficial for me. I have come a long way from my early days on STEEM where it was 100% about making profit.

With dwindling content and only a handful of comments from your dedicated followers, where do you see yourself in the "STEEM Sphere"? I don't intend this post to be a downer, but am I the only one feeling this way? Are you in a wait and see pattern or do you have a defined plan for the future?
