I'm taking a break from my Wisconsin travel posts today to talk about a really cool experience I just had.
It was way back in April when I was first approached about taking part in the Hive Thrive show on Discord. I'm not the sort of person to have the spotlight on me, so as you might expect, I found reasons and excuses to avoid what actually ended up being a really pleasant experience. Thankfully, @buttcoins didn't give up on me and eventually we were able to work out a date when I could participate in the show.
If you were able to catch the show, I just wanted to say thank you. It was honestly a pretty nerve wrecking experience for me. I don't do well at public speaking. In fact, I go out of my way to avoid it. It's not something I have ever enjoyed or excelled at. I wish I did, but me being the awkward person I am, I just never took to it.
Leading up to episode number 66 on Tuesday the 21st, I had one thing at the top of my head:
So far it would seem I have accomplished that. At least according to my cursory check of FRIDAY this morning on Discord. Sadly, though, I haven't seen a bunch of new people slide into The Pub Discord, but maybe that will come with time. If everyone else's Discord is anything like mine, you already have about a million different servers that you hardly ever visit anyway.
I was hoping for a bit of an outline before the conversation so I could have some notes ready, but that didn't really happen. Which is fine, but there are some people I really wanted to give a shout out to that I never got the chance. People like @slobberchops,
@steevc, and
@cryptoandcoffee who I have basically grew up with on this wonderful chain. I have years of chat history with them on Discord and I really feel like I wouldn't be where I am without their support and being able to float ideas back and forth with them.
I also want to thank @thekittygirl for being my "hype-person" during the conversation. She threw some good links in the chat area that I honestly wouldn't have had time to do on the fly. I was singularly focused on not making an idiot of myself or sounding like a stammering fool.
Big thanks to @buttcoins and
@meno for co-hosting. It was truly a pleasure chatting with you.
Part of the discussion talked about initiatives, and while I feel like I covered a lot of them, there are a few that I know I missed. Awesome groups like @pimp.token, silverbloggers, and
@thealliance deserved a mention and I screwed up on that. I also didn't get the chance to mention
@sportsblock and the fact that I have a secondary account
@bozz.sports where I post a lot of sports content. Lately it's been mostly softball and a bit of the World Cup, but it varies throughout the year. American football season is right around the corner! Plus a whole slew of other communities that I likely forgot to mention. My apologies!
I also neglected to talk about my investment in @holozing (much more than I had originally intended), and the various token projects that @SSUK has a hand in. They have been solid investments hampered only by the markets overall.
If you missed the show, there should be a recording floating around eventually. Check it out at your own risk!
It may have not come across until the end, but I am still really bullish on HIVE. That doesn't mean I am buying tons of HIVE like some people, however, I do keep showing up and doing my part to use the chain to its fullest. As I said yesterday, I've been involved in a lot of blockchains over the years and I have yet to find a chain that is faster, cheaper, or easier to use than HIVE. It has so much potential. If you are new to HIVE, that potential is there for you to take advantage of.
While you might come here for the monetary rewards, I think you will find some intrinsic rewards that are more valuable.
