The struggle continues! Interneting is hard.
Our instructors stressed that a beginner coder needs to take a short break every hour or so to avoid burnout or brain fatigue. I definitely am feeling the truth to that. During class lectures we take a mandatory 10min break each hour, and during the labs I find that I need to get up and take a walk every hour or so. I've also read that your mind needs to shift gears during a break like this. And that explains why a lot of tech companies have things like foosball tables, or bounce houses, or other diversions. They are actually beneficial. Its a huge change from every other kind of work I've done where if I was scheduled to work 8 hours then I worked until all the work was finished or I had to take lunch. Multiple breaks in the middle of the shift were always discouraged; no time for goofing off. But it seems like the opposite is true for tech: not taking multiple breaks will cause your brain to fry in the shell. Makes sense, since recent studies are showing that more than half of all tech workers in the US are suffering from burnout. I've yet to meet a Las Vegas Butler that was truly suffering from burnout!
Fridays at school are lab days which means no lecture, just time to work on the weekend projects with your team members. I've been getting helpful hints from the others in my group, and hopefully being helpful at the same time. But this website is kicking my ass all over the place. Once its done I'll post links to the codepen or the github so you can check it out. So far its still a bloated mess of CSS with a lot of design elements shoehorned into place. Keep in mind it is my very first built-from-scratch site where I didn't copy-paste someone else's code.
No way I'm finishing this site today but hopefully by the end of Sunday it will be done and submitted. Then I can enjoy a couple of hours of my relaxing weekend.
