There is an old, black garbage can in my yard, usually situated in the shade of the laurel tree at the edge of the parking place. I have quite a few trees that produce plenty of fallen flower petals, fruits, seeds and dead leaves on that parking part of the yard, so from time to time, the garbage can is used to store that fallen stuff until it's brought to the compost place in the garden not far from there.
The garbage can is there since who knows when, and I never saw anything worth photographing in or around that black piece of plastic ... I mean, never - until today ...
... when I noticed a small moth resting above the foliage collected from the parking. I wasn't so much surprised to find a moth there, small moths can be found everywhere around my house, especially early in the morning, but I was kind of slightly struck by how good the insect looked on that black surface that resembled the night sky with the layer of autumnal foliage underneath it. This was the first photograph that I took. I was pretty satisfied, so I decided to take a couple of shots more and create a post around it.
Here I mounted the macro lens on, so you can take a good, up close look at the moth. I don't know what species is this ... but I think that is a part of the Geometridae family ... maybe ... I encounter many similar looking moths here, it’s pretty confusing.
And that's it. The garbage can is still there, although empty now. The fallen foliage is on the compost pile, the moth flew away some time after the shooting. As always in these posts on HIVE, the photographs are my work.
