When I first discovered Steemit, back then in 2019, and started blogging without a clear idea of how all the crypto-social stuff works and with very limited knowledge of the English language, getting a thousand Steem power through the rewards looked like a goal that will require at least a decade or two. To change the status from a little fish to a dolphin looked impossible to achieve in only one lifetime.
But I reached my dolphinhood while still on Steemit, and today, a couple of years later, I just reached the forty thousand HIVE power, and most of that came through blogging. Constantly. Relentlessly. Every single day.
Of course, the hard fork helped, and something about three to four thousand of that power came from selling most of my five thousand Steem. But the rest, and there is plenty of that rest, came from blogging. And from curating. But since I always just upvoted what I like or find interesting or entertaining, without considering the right moment or any curation strategy, I don't think the curation made a great impact.
Hm, I don't know. Maybe checking the HiveStats could be a good idea. Let's see ...
3600 - and something ... well, definitely more than I expected. Another 1400 HIVE (aproximatelly) that ended powered up, came from selling the artworks in NFT Showroom.

When I became a dolphin, back then in 2020, a month or so before the HIVE was launched, becoming an orca seemed something definitely out of reach. Now, I'm still a dolphin - but a big, fat & experienced one, so upgrading to an orca looks not only possible but practically inevitable.
A month ago I first time cashed out a little less than five hundred HIVE. Just to finally go through all the process and see how it feels to buy something with the money earned through blogging. Bought my first Bitcoin fragments and got a bit of experience with the complex interface of the Binance exchange. I mean, I don't know how complex it really is, but it looked damn complex for a newcomer like me. The only time I used an exchange before that was when I sold a thousand Steem for HIVE on Ionomy. It looked simpler there and then.
Yeah, it was an interesting journey. And along the way, I found out that I really like blogging. It started as a challenge. To see if I can learn a new language and finally earn a few dollars with my many artsy hobbies that always brought me only fun and no money. It became much more. Both financially and lifestyle-wise. And this is only the beginning, I think ...
AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE ARTWORK, THE TWO VERSIONS OF AN OLD ILLUSTRATION THAT I CREATED YEARS AGO AND RECENTLY ENHANCED WITH THE HIVE LOGO, ARE MY WORK.
