The day was sunny. Relatively cold but sunny. When I took a look through the kitchen window ...
... I saw a cat in the yard.
The cat said meow. I said hello and took a couple of shots. It's a male cat and his name is Palchich.
Since the yard looked nice and the weather was inviting ...
... I decided to go out and take a bit of sun and fresh air. This photograph was taken in front of the house.
Palchich was now there. He ran when he heard the door opening and was waiting on the makeshift bench in front of the entrance.
The cat called Batman came through the living room window.
Here you can see him stepping out.
The whole duration of this post, Batman will sit there, observing the yard just like the Batman from the comic books and movies observes the crime-ridden city.
At some point, a friend arrived. I mean, a human friend ...
... that was soon followed by another friend of that Homo sapiens kind. The two friends were talking across the yard when these two shots were taken, but only one of them is visible. The other friend is five or six meters out of the frame. If you enlarge the photo above this stretch of text, you'll probably notice a black & white cat in the background.
This is Farabuto. And you can take a better look at his funny face here. After this shot was taken ...
... he continued sneaking and sniffing around the backyard ...
... and I noticed a plastic bottle, nicely but completely accidentally arranged with a bunch of yellow flowers that grew nearby.
These are the flowers of the Sonchus arvensis plant. They look pretty good against the translucent, plastic background provided by the bottle.
A look from above revealed these decorative circles under the cap of the bottle.
Soon a butterfly landed on the lawn not far from there. The Pieris rapae butterfly. I was able to take only one shot ...
... before the cat called Miaucula jumped into the scene and attacked the insect.
Pieris rapae survived the attack and flew away after looking dead for a minute or two.
A bit later, in the middle of the backyard lawn ...
... I encountered another funny face.
The Common toad (Bufo bufo) was resting in the grass.
It must have been there the whole time but I didn't notice it.
Meanwhile, across the street, two repairmen were working on something inside the distribution board of the neighboring house.
That caused a half an hour-long absence of electrical power in the neighborhood.
With this photograph, the focus is back on the lawn.
The cat called Starka still hasn't noticed the toad.
Here you can see the flowers of the Taraxacum parnassicum dandelion.
These small Veronica filiformis flowers were photographed nearby.
With this photograph, I'm following the backyard amphibian again. The situation was more or less the same until Palchich came to see what was going on.
The toad started moving and Starka started to look slightly interested.
The toad was directed to some shady, humid angle of my yard. Palchich came closer ...
... and tried to play with the toad. But the amphibian wasn't interested, so the cat soon gave up.
I took three more shots ...
... before turning my camera towards the violets. The other flowers that appeared in this post can be seen throughout the whole winter, but violets are a clear sign that springtime is almost here.
In this photograph, you can see the cat called Tzvrtchak.
She was also sneaking and sniffing around.
At this point, the cat called Farabuto was busy napping.
It was a great day for chill-out activities.
The sun was making me dizzy so I felt sleepy too.
Here I tried to photograph Miaucula from a certain distance, but she kept coming closer ...
... and closer.
Some minutes later Farabuto woke up, walked a couple of meters, and changed his napping place.
Palchich decided to take a rest too.
AND THAT'S IT. I SPENT THE REST OF THE DAY INDOORS, PREPARING THE PHOTOGRAPHS FOR THIS AND SOME FUTURE POSTS. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.
