                                                                        - Fear -

Hello Steemians. I ‘ve been offline for the past few days, trying to finish the paper work and also going through up and downs for my business which has thought me something that I wanted to share with you in this post and few other coming posts; something that does not only concerns people in business but everyone on this platform.

                                                          GOALS

A goal is an idea of the future or desired result that a person or a group of people envisions, plans and commits to achieve.

Now, you know what kind of goals I am talking about, you are already thinking about yours in this moment and you have a bright smile on your face already but then after few seconds you suddenly stop smiling, what’s happening? Are you alright? I think the answer of that question is no, I am not alright. But you were smiling a couple of seconds back? Yes. So why did you stop? I want us to focus on that last question.

Most people have personal life goals, great! Do they achieve them? Unfortunately, no. why? As most of us know, it’s Because of

    1. Fear

Of course, Fear is not the only reason why people fail, there are other more reasons but I would like to write about fear today in this post. we shall cover the rest one by one in every coming post. Now, let’s go back to our question. they could be many answers to that question, many reasons why you stopped smiling and among them there is fear.

 Fear

  1.  is a feeling induced by perceived danger or threat that occurs in certain types of organisms, which causes a change in metabolic and organ functions and ultimately a change in behavior, such as fleeing, hiding, or freezing from perceived traumatic events.
  2.  is a response to a perceived threat that is consciously recognized as a danger.  Causative factors may include separation from one's support system in a potentially threatening situation such as hospitalization, diagnostic test, or treatment; knowledge deficit or unfamiliarity; language barrier; sensory impairment; and phobic stimulus or phobia.

Above, we have, both medical and psychological definition of fear to help us understand what really fear is. Lets now try to understand how that fear interferes with our personal life goals.

The world can be a scary place as we go through our daily lives, we face many challenges, and often these challenges can bring out fear. We may fear the loss of something, or perhaps the lack of fulfillment. We may experience fear when going on a job interview or a first date.   The greatest challenge with fear is that it can hold us back from achieving our goals, but it doesn’t have to.

Fear is an emotion that overrides our intelligence. It stops us from moving toward our goals, and it plays havoc with our quality of life. People often fail to recognize the impact of fear—sometimes because we don’t even use the word. Instead we talk about things like worry, nervousness, stress, shyness, or anxiety. But the only way to diminish fear is to conquer it.   And this is how you conquer it:

Develop self-confidence: Self-confidence is not absence of fear but the mastery of fear. The key is to know it is a state of mind you can create anytime you want, no matter what the circumstances.   Master motivation: Motivation is a vital component of reaching any goal. Since most goals tend to involve pushing through short-term pain to achieve a long-term gain, staying connected to your motivation keeps you on the path to success. Goals themselves are highly motivating, but to get even greater leverage you need to keep that motivation up front in your mind.

Proceed past procrastination: When you procrastinate, you’re waiting for the right time, the right place, the right person— external things you can never count on. When you find yourself becoming paralyzed by inaction, learn to power through. Start with small tasks to build momentum and move past the obstacle of procrastination.

Build self-discipline: To achieve a goal, you must be willing to do what you know you should do when you should do it, whether you like or not. Underlining all great achievements is the quality of self-discipline. It is the ability to delay short-term gratification to enjoy even greater rewards in the long term.

Carry out commitment: One of the fastest ways to move past fear is to commit to what you are doing. When you commit, you’re putting your integrity on the line, making yourself accountable to do what you say you will do. If you need help, enlist support to keep yourself accountable.   When you realize that you have come just so far and then you find yourself tempted to turn back instead of moving forward because of worry, anxiety, or fear, conquer your fear and enhance your motivation and self-discipline, block procrastination, and carry out your commitment. Thanks for reading, I hope this is going to help you overcome your fears and achieve your goals. See you next time in the second reason why you stopped smiling, stay tuned .
