After getting my first assignment from Spike, I armed a car trap to prepare for the nights Antizin drop. Responding to Jade's distress call, I cleared an inactive safe zone, only to find the survivor had turned into a fast infected. After dispatching him, I restored power and contacted the GRE.
Still inside the safe zone where I secured the Antizin, I set out to locate Spike to receive my very first field assignment. Expecting to find him somewhere out in the infected streets, I was surprised to see him set up right inside the hideout, working on a laptop.
He explained that two types of crates fall from the sky: standard drops containing food, medical supplies, and gear, and critical drops packed strictly with Antizin. While the GRE sends one-way video feeds alerting them to incoming supply drops, Rais's thugs routinely raid the Antizin crates before Brecken's runners can reach them.
With two drops scheduled for sunset tonight, Spike explained this was our best chance to secure the medicine. He tasked me with setting up traps to secure the runners routes, instructing me to grab a bundle of firecrackers from his desk before heading out into the city.
Leaving the safety of the compound, I kept to the rooftops to navigate past the dense hordes roaming the streets below. Scaling a nearby building, I ambushed a lone infected on the roof, brutally beating it down with a heavy steel pipe.
Near the apex of the roof, I stumbled across a gruesome, mutilated corpse whose internal organs were still visibly squirming and moving inside its open stomach.
I pushed forward toward my target location then. Reaching the site, I followed Spike's radio instructions and wired up a car battery to convert the vehicle into a high-voltage trap.
Just as I finished the wiring, an urgent distress call came through from Jade, reporting a survivor trapped in a courtyard nearby, surrounded by infected. Promising to handle it, I smashed an infected crawling out of a nearby storm drain
Arriving at the inactive safe house, I found a pair of biters clawing at the reinforced door. I quickly dispatched both infected and unlatched the barricade to rescue the survivor inside.
Unfortunately, the man had already gave up to the infection, reanimating as a fast, aggressive runner. Following Jade's advice to put him out of his misery, I carefully dodged his frantic attacks and put him down permanently.
With the area cleared, I flipped the breaker switch inside to restore power, establishing a brand-new safe house. To close out the run, I climbed up to the roof to bypass local interference, reporting my contact with Dr. Zere back to the GRE, who ordered me to maintain my cover at all costs.
We'll check what happens next in another post.
