After clearing furniture to escape the radio store, I encountered parasitic worms reviving corpses. I bypassed locked doors, used a borrowed code to unlock a safe for ammo, and faced terrifying jump scares from infected inside an apartment.
After clearing the building, I spotted the Annex library at last, and it was closer than I could think.
Facing the monster last time was definitely a creepy moment, but not as scary as I had thought it would be. After moving a piece of furniture out of the way, it was finally time to get out of the area.
Right after stepping outside, I noticed those parasitic worms reviving a dead body. Shortly after, more of them appeared to awaken a second corpse nearby, forcing me to shoot both of them down.
It turned out I just exited the radio store and was moving through an adjacent building because the main initial door was locked from the other side.
The worms were everywhere, though they did not attack me directly, which was a welcome sign. And fortunately, the other corpses scattered around were not woken by the worms.
I decided to head back into that same building to try opening the safe I had spotted earlier, hoping to find something valuable inside. Near the entrance gate, I found a warning poster advising people not to touch any worms or wounds, and to avoid swimming in floodwaters.
Ignoring the eerie warnings, I ran straight to apartment number five where the safe was located, hoping there won't be any awaken monsters inside.
Using the code 1908 that I borrowed from the internet, the lock turned and opened right up. Inside, I found handgun ammo and twenty health pills. Because my inventory was completely full, I could not take the pills, but I made sure not to leave the ammo behind.
Right as I stepped out of the room, a monster suddenly lunged at me, and scared me half to death. I was not expecting to fight another creature right in that hallway, and my blood ran cold the moment it appeared out of nowhere.
As I tried to exit the apartment, yet another infected burst out, that requiredg a handful of rounds to drop. The fresh supply of ammo I had just retrieved from the safe was practically used up right then and there.
Defeating that last infected did open up access to another room, where I found a new codex entry after turning on a radio.
With the hallway cleared, I walked out of the building hoping there would be no more infected waiting for me outside. Luckily, none appeared immediately, though the ground was still crawling with worms that I chose to ignore.
I could have headed straight back to the floodgate, but I decided to explore the surrounding area a bit more. And I found a high ledge to climb up onto, which gave me a clear view of the Annex library where I needed to head next.
That's all for this session. More moments coming soon and thanks for checking it out.
