After navigating a path heavily crowded with infected, I recovered Chimera transport guidelines from a body. Following a radio update with Olivia regarding the creature's escape, I tracked its bloody footprints and a trail of headless bodies into the swamps, where I eliminated an aggressive infected.
I caught sight of a biter right ahead, and it quickly became obvious that there were a lot more furious infected scattered all around the area. I really did not want to face them directly if I could avoid it, so I decided to try a different path that looked relatively quiet for the moment.
Unfortunately, as I moved along, I found out the main bridge was completely full of infected too. I needed to get back to that transport truck once again, mostly because my progress had not saved the last time I was out here.
I just hoped I was safe in this spot because there was a functioning UV light nearby. Thankfully, the infected were not attacking me at all while I stood near it, which was definitely a good thing.
Since the area was temporarily secure, I went over to inspect a dead body one more time. Digging through the gear, I finally found what I was looking for, which turned out to be the Chimera transport guidelines that I found once before.
With the objective set, I set off to actively look for the Chimera. A few stray infected tried to get to me as I started moving, but the UV light did a great job of stopping them in their tracks.
Deciding it was best not to waste ammo or stamina fighting them, I chose to just jump straight into the water to bypass them entirely.
It was a bit weird because when I jumped, it looked like I was just standing frozen in mid-air while I was in the photo mode.
I pushed through and kept swimming until I reached the opposite side. Once I climbed out, I noticed a broken boat resting on the shore, and I realized I was already a pretty good distance away from the transport truck
I focused entirely on tracking the Chimera's traces from there. It did not take long to find the first signs of trouble. I stumbled across a dead soldier and couldn't help but notice that I could not see his head anywhere.
It turned out it's not just me who was fond of beheading people; the Chimera was clearly very fond of it too. Nearby, I spotted a massive bloody footprint, or maybe a handprint, left behind by the creature.
I kept checking where the grim trail was leading, and it just led to more dead bodies. Or, to be more precise, it led to a whole line of headless dead bodies. A few paces later, I actually found one of the severed heads lying on the ground, which was a pretty cool find.
There were just dead bodies scattered everywhere. I kept hoping that I was going the right way, using the corpses and the bloody footprints as my primary guide.
The tracks eventually forced me to look for the Chimera deep inside the murky swamps. Suddenly I realized there were infected creeping up right behind me.
One of them became a total pain, so I decided I had to finally stop and take care of her. I called out to her to come to daddy as I swung my weapon. I initially thought she was gone with just one hit, but my guess turned out to be completely wrong.
I had to strike her a few more times, and with the final blow, she was completely divided into two separate pieces.
I'll show what happens next later.
I personally took all the screenshots from my play and I used a logo of the game from online to use in the thumbnail.
This is Pikachuuuuu signing off. Over and out.
