Confessions from a Hospital Bed

As the Terminator once said
"Ah'll be back",
from hospital, I mean,
where for two weeks I'd been,
where many things I'd seen,
waiting for vampires daily
coming to prey on me,
the food was always so great,
such as pureed white bread,
I often wanted to vomit.
I went in because of sodium
deficiency, which made me crazy,
but I always knew I had
a drinking problem,
making me less salty,
suffering hallucinations,
they say at times I was
rude and unkind,
revealing my Mr. Hyde side,
telling nurses they are ugly
when they really weren't,
telling my poor care aide
that she was typically late,
even though she was
usually on time,
which for a hippie is quite remarkable,
and getting annoyed with my sister
because she didn't see
the shooting star
I saw in the sky,
and for some mysterious reason
shouting at her
to duck a few times.

More secrets I'll reveal,
but maybe they aren't so secret,
like that I still am a virgin,
so don't expect me
to perform at the erotica slam
because I wouldn't know
what to say, I've even
stopped looking at porn,
my spirituality
has made me reform.

This poem appears among twenty-five others in my book Something to Believe In, available at iUniverse, Chapters Indigo, and Amazon (USA, Canada, & UK).

Thank you,
